  • My exclusively online solo private practice has been based in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, since 2015.

As a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois, I am able to provide counseling and therapy to clients located anywhere within the state of Illinois.

*Please note that all sessions are online only and clients MUST be residents of, and located in Illinois at time of all sessions. No exceptions due to Illinois licensure rules for counselors and therapists.

  • All online sessions are provided via the HIPAA-compliant telehealth video platform, SimplePractice. Most clients like to choose a set day and time to meet each week to start so as to keep momentum towards progress smooth.

Online therapy sessions are very convenient and provided to you in the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Due to Illinois state licensure laws, clients must be residents of, and located within Illinois state lines during sessions.

All of the same laws, rules, and protections that apply in-person apply to online therapy sessions.

Studies have shown online therapy to be just as effective as in-person therapy, often having a higher rate of client participation because of the convenience and ability for clients to be in their own cozy spaces. I welcome clients to show up to sessions as comfortable as possible - have your cup of coffee or tea with you (I will!) and pets are always welcome in the space too. At times, you may see my dog or cats as well! I strive to foster a welcoming, authentic, and comfortable environment for clients. So, come as you are with what makes you most comfortable during your therapy sessions.

  • No; I’m an exclusively online telehealth provider. All sessions are conducted online and provided via the HIPAA-compliant telehealth video platform, SimplePractice.

A superbill can be provided to clients who wish to submit an out-of-network claim to their insurance for possible reimbursement benefits.

BCBS PPO: BlueCrossBlueShield Illinois is the ONLY insurance I am able to accept as in-network. Please contact your BCBS PPO insurance provider to verify that I am considered in-network for your particular mental health benefit plan.

  • The first therapy session is approximately 1 to 1.5 hrs in length. This important first session is structured around and focused on getting to know you, and what brings you to therapy. During this time, we develop your treatment plan, establish a diagnosis if applicable, and then decide on the goals for treatment that are most meaningful to you. You don’t have to dive into your deepest issues right away but the first session is your opportunity to lay the groundwork for what’s most important for you to address and process on as we work together. We go at your own pace and in your own way. In addition, you’ll get to learn more about how I’ll be supporting and guiding you along the way. Each session after the first initial session is 1 hour in length.

  • How long someone needs or wants to be in therapy is different for every person. Some clients stay for a few sessions, and other clients find that they benefit from longer-term support. Since you know yourself best, you will know when you’re ready to move on from therapy.

Below is a helpful reference to give you an idea of what you can expect, depending upon your needs and what you are hoping to accomplish during your time in therapy.

    Short-term therapy: 4-12 sessions

    Medium-term therapy: 3-6 months

    Longer-term therapy: 6+ months

Maintenance therapy: Monthly check-ins or every-other-month or so check-ins as requested or needed to maintain progress.

Sometimes people decide to move on from therapy as they’re feeling good, and then need to come back for a while to further address same issues or new issues that have come up. This is normal and ok! Again, you know yourself best as the client and I am here to facilitate as needed, whether it’s for a short or longer period of time.

  • Under the law, health care providers are required to give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. If you choose to utilize the fully private pay option, you will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of therapy.
