The first therapy session is structured around and focused on getting to know more about you and what brings you to therapy. This first session helps me develop your treatment plan, establish a diagnosis if applicable, and then together we decide on goals that are most meaningful to you. You don’t have to dive into your deepest issues right away. We go at your own pace and in your own way. In addition, you’ll get to learn more about how I’ll be supporting and guiding you along the way.

How long someone needs or wants to be in therapy is different for every person. Some clients stay for a few sessions, and other clients find that they benefit from longer-term support. Since you know yourself best, you will know when you’re ready to graduate from therapy.
Below is a helpful reference to give you an idea of what you can expect:
Short-term therapy: 4-12 sessions
Medium-term therapy: 3-6 months
Longer-term therapy: 6+ months
Maintenance therapy: Monthly check-ins or every-other-month or so check-ins as requested or needed to maintain progress.
